Disappointment in the Cup!

Druids crashed out of the Nathaniel MG Cup in the second round for the second year running, the visitors to the Rock this season were former Welsh Premier outfit Prestatyn Town. Druids who were limited with selection choices opted for a youthful bench which pleased many Ancient fans to see the development of our youth set up.

The game started slow for Huw's boys with Prestatyn dominating the opening 15 mins of play, scoring in the 13th min. Following this Druid settled into the game and had a couple of chances to score but went int 1-0 down at Halftime. The Second half was a different story with the Ancients coming out fighting and dominating the play but failing to make it count until a strike by Ryan Kershaw was slotted in 71st min, bringing the teams level.

The fans were infuriated by a number of penalty decisions which were waved away by the officials, the run of play favoured Druids but a late deflected free kick by Hughes of Prestatyn put the seasiders back in front. A Neil Ashton goal in the 94th min, was ruled offside denying Druids the chance to take the fixture to extra time.

There were plenty of positives to take from the fixture ahead of the Cymru Premier getting underway next week, but there will be disappointment that the club failed to progress in the cup.
