Momentum key for Griffiths

Cefn Druids host Aberystwyth Town on Saturday afternooon (2.30pm) with manager Huw Griffiths looking to build on recent league momentum.

Following The Ancients’ 2-0 win at Rhyl last weekend and other positive league performances, Griffiths is looking to build on that.

So far Druids have yet to win successive matches in the Dafabet Welsh Premier League this season, and the manager is hoping that will change on Saturday.

He said: “We’re looking to build on the momentum of last week’s win.

“We’ve not gone back-to-back with wins this season. It’s important that we continue to perform well, which we have been doing in the last few league games.”

Druids will give late fitness tests to Nathan Peate and striker Jonny Taylor, but otherwise have the same squad that was available for last week’s victory on the North Wales coast.

Griffiths has said that he hopes for the team he selects to stick to the game plan and be aware of Aberyswyth’s counter attacking threat, especially after their 3-0 win at The Rock in December.

He told cefndruidsafc.co.uk: “We need to make sure that we stick to the plan and it is really important that we don’t get beat.

“We have to watch their strengths. Aberystwyth have lots of pace going forwards, which undone us last time they were here.”

The Druids boss added that he hopes supporters will get behind his side, saying: “I hope plenty of people come along and get behind us and, hopefully, we will get the result for them.”
